During the late Victorian period in the USA, there was a trend for personalizedl napkin holders, which marked the owners' place at the table with its individualized theme. They were offered in dozens of styles, often with an area for engraving a message or name. This particular one features two tennis or wimbledon rackets, complete with little balls, and beautifully engraved with a floral design over the ring.
